The best way to find out whether you and I are a good fit to work together is to schedule a free fifteen minute consultation. Every organization, campaign, and project has unique needs for time and expertise. I want to make sure I have the expertise needed to fulfill your goals.

I can move with the pace of your campaign. I have supported many local organizers and candidates for public office and understand the urgent pace and deep collaboration on campaign teams. If your campaign team could use another hand on deck at critical junctures, I can step in without costing you the time it takes to train someone less experienced. Sometimes having a little extra affordable help is a step toward ending burnout culture.

FAQs

How much does a freelance fundraiser cost?

I consider myself more of a freelancer than a consultant because I offer expert work at a reasonable rate, but not focused on the sale of my expertise. One of the things that years in the nonprofit and campaign trenches taught me was that you don’t always need an expert. Most of the time (because you have to) you can pull off whatever you need done with a little bit of YouTube, teamwork, and elbow grease.

Believe me. I’ve done it. As an executive director and various other positions, I have always gone beyond the job description to get the work done. I am a generalist. I like getting my hands dirty. I am adaptable. Flexible. And so is my pricing. It will really depend upon the size of your project. That said, I did create a few sample pricing sheets to give folks an idea of what to expect that you can find at the bottom of the FAQ.

Can you find new donors for my campaign or organization?

While I am more than happy to co-create a campaign to find new donors with you, it is beyond my scope to actually produce them from my network. Instead, we will look at your own outer and inner circles. With the added capacity that bringing on freelance fundraising support provides, you can grow both of those circles.

What are your freelancing rates and is it by the hour or project?

My freelancing rates vary by project and I rarely work by the hour. Instead, I prefer to generate a clear set of goals and outputs with my client in our scope of work. I have included a few sample projects below. Consideration is given for size of budget, campaign, urgency of project.

Where are you located? Is the work all remote or in-person?

Typically, I split my time between Washington State and Valladolid, Mexico where my partner lives and wherever the work calls me. While many needs can be met remotely, I am extremely transit-friendly if that is what your project requires.

Is remote political work even possible? Isn’t the whole point of our work to be based in the community we serve?

I love talking to neighbors no matter where I happen to be. It can be a genuine pleasure to meet people who were born and raised in a community and their folks, and their folks’ folks, etc. Having never lived in any place for too long growing up, it seemed natural for me to move to another city after college so I moved to Seattle. After a dozen years there, I left for Mexico. All of those experiences taught me that belonging is possible when you are new to a community, but it takes work. There are so many things that we almost all have in common that drive us. Cultures and individuals certainly express them differently. Our desires and our struggles stay somewhat consistent. Enough to trick us into generalization anyway.

Anyway, the answer is yes, I can support your political program remotely and I can also come to you and connect with the community if your budget allows. I promise that I will be a good neighbor while I am there.

How long does it take to turn around a project?

For something like writing three fundraising e-mails and a major donor update, I can turn that around in 24 hours. The answer depends on the scope of the project. I have worked in a fast-paced setting where urgency is tantamount and I am able to meet those needs under certain circumstances. Like many of you, I also applaud and value the drive to balance that sense of urgency with a beautiful quality of life. You will tell me what your work culture is and I will take a running jump onto your moving train.

What is your experience with DEI, anti-racism, and the work of dismantling white supremacy?

I invested deeply in interrogating myself, the systems that I uphold, and the practices within our work culture that perpetuate disclusivity. If we want to build inclusive and accommodating work cultures on our work to creating work inclusivity and accommodation in the systems that govern our world, it must be all of the above. And without trust and community, we are constantly wasting our energy rebuilding ourselves. In our work to dismantle racism, white supremacy, and disinclusivity, let us treat individuals with the kindest forms of accountability and our systems with the sternest.

What if I am not satisfied with the work that you produce?

We will work together to define a clear set of scope and expectations and determine fair pay for that work. While I have a pristine record of customer satisfaction, I am eager to hear all feedback and apply appropriately. I will do everything in my power to ensure that we meet your goals.

My Fundraising Philosophy:

“Fundraising is one of the many tools of community organizing. Raising money is a way to shift power in our system both politically and economically and redistribute it more equitably. Our communities deserve the stability that solid and ethical fundraising practices can help bring.

Fundraising is inherently a communal activity that connects us to something bigger than ourselves. So why do we feel the transactional trap, especially in campaign and political fundraising with its often frantic start-up energy? I believe that with a clear vision, achievable goals, and a meticulous plan, you can build a community of people working together to fund the work with clear minds and full hearts. There is no trick to it: just authentic relationship-building through fresh, honest, and inspiring communication.”

“Tiffany came to me like a guardian angel from the heavens. I was feeling so lost, wading my way through the murky waters of fundraising without a plan. She brought me guidance and clarity with her extensive knowledge and understanding of the extremely confusing aspects of nonprofit funding. She created a kick-ass road map for my funding plan and brought years of experience and wordsmithing to the table when I started applying for grants. After working with me to grow my confidence to make the asks, I have never felt more prepared to take on my fundraising goals.”

Alice Wilder, Genital Electric

“Tiffany is a leader that brings creativity, passion and experience to every project she works on. She has a depth of knowledge in organizing and fundraising, experience on political campaigns as well as organizational development and staff management experience. In this remote work environment, she is self-motivated, well-organized and focused.”

Who I can help:

  • I have provided nonprofit organizations of all size with fundraising and capacity support.

  • So your campaign doesn’t have the budget of a national or statewide race, but you still need to have a robust plan to find and communicate with commited donors. I am committed to providing professional services in local elections, often the most impactful elections. Since most of my work can be done remotely, I can keep costs affordable for the local heroes running for office.

  • Does your organization have a firewall between independent expenditures and coordinated campaigns that puts a strain on staff capacity? Did your plan pivot and you need a savvy and agile practitioner to add short-term capacity? I have references to my ability to step in and get the work across the finish line in a frantic campaign setting while practicing kindness and respect.

  • Do you have a campaign that multiple organizations plan to participate in fundraising for? I can provide the scaffolding and added staff capacity across organizations to ensure campaign goals are met.
